We finished a 30 second spot the other day with music artist, Joey Gaskin.

Everything was shot in our studio using a green screen.  We then used After Effects for our compositing and visual effects.

Music was mixed and added the finishing touches to the spot.

We recently produced and submitted our own Doritos commercial for the Superbowl video contest.

The story line takes place in a park. The opening shot is of two guys who are sitting on two different park benches.  One is a nerd with a bag of Doritos.  The second is waiting for this girl friend with flowers.  Then with the power of Doritos, the unthinkable happens.

There was a CG scene that required the boy friend to be smashed by a Doritos bus. This was completed with After Effects and Photoshop.

“Doritos Makes the Difference”

Six finalists will be chosen and given $25,000 cash prize by December 21, 2009. Then America will vote on the six and the top three commercials will go and be aired at this year’s Superbowl. Then whichever commercial is voted 1st, 2nd or 3rd on the USA Today meter after the superbowl, the prizes are 1st ($1,000,000), 2nd ($600,000) and 3rd ($400,000).

We’ve had a lot of people view our commercial and thankfully we’ve had a lot of laughs.

Today I worked with Billy at Soundbytes. I shot and edited their Doritos commercial for the Superbowl this year. The story line was pretty funny and the actors fit fairly well.

We took about 4.5 hours to shoot. I was DP and visual/fx supervisor. I had to set up several scenes for some animation later on in post. We also used a green screen during one scene.

We are not allowed to post the commercial until after the superbowl, but you can view the commercial here on Doritos’ website.

“Doritos… Don’t Ever Run Out!”

Today, the crew and I filmed some B-Roll footage for a 15 minute promotional video for ABCCM’s 40th Anniversary.

Kevin Barnes with Media Samurai was the director, and I was director of photography.

We also had Billy Baker as second camera opp and Ben Bradshaw who was our audio technician.

After much planning and preparation, we completed a 12 hour shoot Friday night. From 4:00pm until 4:00am our team captured the required shots.

We had a few complications with fighting the rain which slowed down production time.

For now, the commercial details are under wraps, but I will say this commercial is for the Doritos Superbowl video contest. If we win, the commercial will be aired on national television at the upcoming Superbowl.

After some intense shooting bright and early Tuesday morning, we were able to capture some awesome mountain boarding shots.

I Co-produced another production with Andrew and Benjamin Schultz with New Classic Entertainment.

This commercial was submitted to the Full Throttle video contest. The judging will be taking place on November 1, 2008.

I was also the producer of Visual/FX, and this time we’ve got a pretty complex scene.

We’ve recently Co-Produced a Radon commercial with New Classic Entertainment.

Benjamin Schultz with New Classic Entertainment directed the commercial. I, Michael was DP (Director of Photography), and Visual/FX supervisor.

We entered the commercial into the EPA video contest. There were 30 entries from various cinematographers. I’m happy to say, our commercial won 1st place!

It was recently shown at the Radon convention in Vegas.

Its the first “User-Generated” commercial to be used as marketing for a government organization.
